Motorola Solutions Expands AI Capabilities to Revolutionize Public Safety Operations at Summit 2025

Motorola Solutions officially launched Summit 2025, its flagship conference for technology users, with an exciting announcement: the expansion of the capabilities of Assist, their cutting-edge public safety AI. This move aims to provide more roles within public safety agencies—from dispatch to investigations—with greater access to essential data and tools to prioritize the most critical tasks at hand.

As Mahesh Saptharishi, the Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Motorola Solutions, explained, "We’re transforming how an agency’s data is made accessible and actionable for its staff. Assist Chat, our secure, CJIS-compliant AI chat assistant, enables seamless, conversational interaction with an agency’s data, procedures, and case history—whether in the field or behind the scenes. As more agencies adopt these capabilities, Assist accelerates workflows, enhances data accuracy, and streamlines operations."

Motorola's innovative technology has already had a profound impact on public safety across the United States, with 3,600 out of 6,000 U.S. public safety answering points (PSAPs) relying on Motorola’s 911 command center software. These centers benefit from Assist’s ability to transcribe calls, translate languages, resolve non-emergency inquiries, and speed up dispatch. The integration of Assist now extends further across Motorola’s software portfolio, including computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records management, bringing even greater efficiency.

For example, Assist's real-time radio transcript capabilities are invaluable. Dispatchers can instantly receive metadata such as addresses, enabling them to take swift action—like identifying a “car crash” call and pre-populating incident details to dispatch an ambulance without delay. In records management, officers can use AI to cross-check and enhance their narratives, comparing them with other incident video footage, radio audio, and CAD data. Investigators can also leverage the AI to track historical data, such as mapping the path of a vehicle involved in a crime—all within a secure, CJIS-compliant environment.

JC Meyer, Manager of Technology Services at the Department of Public Safety in Lee County, Florida, praised Assist’s impact: "Assist has revolutionized our emergency response system by taking the stress off our team. It automates routine tasks and simplifies the rapid succession of steps needed during an emergency, giving our team more time to focus on what matters most—the people in need."

Saptharishi emphasized that AI is more than just an add-on—it is the foundational element that drives Motorola’s public safety software. He likened Assist to the central nervous system of their products, enabling real-time, role-specific insights tailored to the time, task, location, and personnel involved. This integration of data across secure, private repositories helps ensure accuracy and improves AI-generated recommendations.

Assist Chat, Motorola’s conversational interface, is designed to empower users by integrating AI into daily public safety operations. Whether by typing or speaking, users can search across dispatch, records, evidence, and previous case histories—finding relevant information in real-time. Moreover, Assist can even recommend improvements to agency policies by analyzing frequently asked questions or new guidance from industry groups.

"The critical information first responders need is often buried beneath a mountain of data," Saptharishi said. "Assist Chat clears that clutter, connecting users directly to the answers they need, when they need them."

Summit 2025 offers a unique opportunity for public safety and government technology professionals to engage in crucial discussions on modernizing emergency response technology. With over 400 hours of expert-led sessions, the event allows attendees to experience firsthand how AI can enhance their day-to-day workflows. As Saptharishi pointed out, "Summit 2025 will showcase real-time experiences with Assist Chat, allowing agencies to directly engage with the technology transforming emergency response."

Motorola Solutions, with its commitment to enhancing safety and security, continues to lead the charge in integrating innovative technologies that protect communities, businesses, and institutions. Through cutting-edge solutions, the company ensures that first responders are equipped with the tools they need to keep people safe, now and in the future.
