IMPHAL, Mar 24 — A significant cache of arms and ammunition was seized during a well-coordinated search operation this morning in the Saijang Laiching area, conducted by a combined team from the 4 Mahar Regiment and the Yaingangpokpi Police Station.

The haul included an array of weaponry and explosives, such as a .22 rifle, four 51 mm mortar shells, a magazine for a 9 mm pistol, eight hand grenades, a 12 bore double-barrel rifle, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), five stun grenades, 10 tear smoke grenades, a chilli grenade, a walkie-talkie charger, four tube launchers, and a variety of live ammunition — including two 12 bore rounds, 10 9 mm rounds, and 60 7.62 mm rounds.

The team acted swiftly and with precision, demonstrating their training and professionalism in the face of a high-stakes operation. Following the recovery, the arms and ammunition were transferred to the Yaingangpokpi Police Station for further processing. Authorities have initiated an FIR, and investigations are now underway to determine the origins and potential threat of these weapons.

This discovery underscores the ongoing challenges faced by local law enforcement and military units in securing the region, as they remain vigilant in the face of emerging threats. The operation also highlights the level of collaboration between military and police forces, who continue to work together seamlessly to safeguard public safety and prevent violence.
