Hytera, a global leader in professional communication technologies, unveiled its latest innovation, the PDC690—a rugged, dual-mode radio designed to meet the demanding needs of first responders. This all-in-one device combines the flexibility of a smartphone with the reliability of a two-way radio, ensuring teams stay connected, informed, and ready for action in the field.

"The PDC690 provides first responders with resilient, multi-network connectivity, clear audio, robust positioning, and seamless device management, empowering them to focus on saving lives without worrying about their communication equipment," said Chris Ma, Product Director of Hytera's Smart Terminal Division.

Seamless Connectivity and Interoperability

The PDC690 supports a range of networks, including narrowband trunking, WLAN, and public/private LTE, automatically selecting the best network based on signal strength and operational context. With Hytera’s rapid deployment solutions, such as onsite ad hoc networks and direct mode, the device ensures voice and multimedia links are maintained even in challenging conditions. It also integrates with third-party systems, ensuring smooth interoperability with existing setups and preserving institutional investments.

Multimedia and Situational Awareness

Designed for modern emergency workflows, the PDC690 integrates critical voice communications with the ability to capture photos and videos for real-time situational reports and evidence collection. For precise location tracking, it uses multi-constellation GNSS (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, QZSS, BDS, and A-GPS) for outdoor positioning, while indoor location is supported through LBS and WLAN, providing fast and accurate data to improve coordination and safety.

Robust Design and Superior Audio Performance

Built to withstand tough environments, the PDC690 meets MIL-STD-810G standards for drop and shock resistance and features an IP68 rating for dust and water protection. Lightweight and ergonomic, it boasts a responsive touchscreen, USB Type-C fast charging, and compatibility with external batteries for extended missions. Audio performance is enhanced for noisy environments, featuring AI-driven noise suppression, wind reduction, and a proximity anti-larsen function to eliminate feedback when speaking near the device.

Android Ecosystem and Streamlined Management

Running on a full Android operating system, the PDC690 supports both Hytera’s and third-party applications, enabling native dispatch, GIS, incident management, and custom workflows. A comprehensive accessory ecosystem, including wireless PTT, remote speaker microphones, and other peripherals, ensures flexible integration. Hytera's MDM Pro streamlines fleet management through remote programming, over-the-air firmware updates, permission management, device status monitoring, and failure alerts, reducing operational costs and maximizing uptime.
