Okta Appoints Dan Mountstephen as SVP and GM for APJ to Drive Regional Growth

Okta recently announced the appointment of Dan Mountstephen as its new Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), a pivotal role aimed at accelerating the company’s growth in the region.

Operating from Singapore, Mountstephen’s primary responsibilities will be to shape the company’s regional strategy, drive effective go-to-market execution, and forge deeper relationships with large enterprises and public sector organizations. A key part of his mission will be to leverage partner-led growth to expand Okta’s influence and impact.

Mountstephen's appointment comes at a critical time, as businesses across APJ navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape where securing both human and non-human identities is paramount. In a statement, Okta emphasized the need for a robust identity and access management strategy to maintain organizational trust and resilience in the face of evolving threats.

He takes over the role from Stephanie Barnett, who served as interim APJ General Manager since August of the previous year, following her tenure as Vice President of Presales.

Jon Addison, Okta’s Chief Revenue Officer, expressed confidence in Mountstephen’s ability to spearhead the company’s expansion efforts across APJ. “Dan’s expertise in go-to-market strategies and partner-driven scaling makes him uniquely qualified to lead Okta’s growth in the region,” Addison remarked. “His leadership will be vital as we continue to help organizations secure every identity at this critical juncture.”

Mountstephen brings over 20 years of experience in the technology sector, having held various leadership roles at renowned companies including Saviynt, Centrify, Motorola Solutions, Atos, Avaya, Cisco, Datapoint, and Touchbase Communications. His extensive background in technology and his passion for channel partnerships will be instrumental as Okta continues to strengthen its regional footprint.

Upon taking up his new role, Mountstephen highlighted his commitment to building strong, strategic partnerships. “Partners have choices, and earning that trust every day is a top priority for me,” he said. “By focusing on partnering strategically as a force multiplier, we will unlock unique growth opportunities that deliver greater value than we could achieve individually.”

Okta is clearly counting on Mountstephen’s vast experience and strategic vision to drive its growth across APJ, where securing identities is not just a necessity, but a critical factor for maintaining operational trust and security in an increasingly volatile digital environment.
