The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has unveiled its position and consultation paper as part of the final inquiry into access determinations for three essential voice interconnection services: the mobile terminating access service, the fixed terminating access service, and the fixed originating access service.
The competition watchdog, ACCC, has outlined its plan to develop a cost model that will inform its decision-making process regarding price terms for these access determinations. In addition to the pricing framework, the paper emphasizes the ACCC’s preliminary stance on maintaining the existing non-price terms and conditions for these access determinations.
The paper also invites feedback from stakeholders, particularly on the proposed cost model specification. To assist in the development of this model, the ACCC has partnered with Analysys Mason, which has contributed a detailed paper outlining the proposed model specification.
The ACCC is seeking submissions on the position and consultation paper as well as the draft model specification paper. Interested parties are invited to submit their responses by 5pm (AEST) on Friday, 9 May 2025. Both the position and consultation paper, along with the draft model specification paper, can be accessed on the ACCC website.
