BK Technologies Corporation recently unveiled RelayONE, a cutting-edge portable repeater designed for rapid deployment in emergency situations. This versatile kit promises to significantly extend the range and enhance communication interoperability among various public safety and military radio systems. What sets RelayONE apart is its compatibility with the BKR 9000 multiband radio, allowing seamless communication across multiple frequencies—VHF, UHF, or 700/800 MHz—through a single device. This innovation is part of BK Technologies' rebranded BK ONE series, which aims to create advanced communication solutions tailored to the needs of first responders.
In a strategic move to integrate this new technology into active operations, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, has purchased RelayONE kits for the Larimer County Search and Rescue (LCSAR) team. This region, with a population of around 360,000, relies heavily on its first responders, particularly the 80-member LCSAR unit, which averages 70 emergency callouts each year. LCSAR's missions often take them to remote areas where reliable communication can make the difference between success and failure.
James Teel, General Manager of Solutions at BK Technologies, expressed his excitement about the potential of RelayONE to reshape the landscape of emergency response communications. “The introduction of RelayONE gives us the ability to broaden our reach, especially to clients requiring multiband interoperability,” Teel said. “We’re thrilled to support the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office with this advanced solution, which will enhance their ability to respond swiftly and effectively in critical search and rescue operations.”
Teel further highlighted the importance of interoperability in modern first responder operations, noting that RelayONE and the BK ONE brand symbolize the company’s commitment to driving innovation that enhances safety, efficiency, and coordination in the field. Whether it’s navigating rugged terrains or responding to sudden crises, RelayONE ensures that first responders stay connected, no matter the radio system they rely on.
Through this collaboration, the LCSAR team is equipped with the tools they need to tackle challenging rescues, all while remaining seamlessly integrated with other emergency units in the region, regardless of the equipment they use. The flexibility and reliability offered by RelayONE are expected to improve not only operational efficiency but also the safety of both responders and the people they serve.
