Motorola Solutions, a leading US-based technology, communications, and security company, is making a strategic move to strengthen its communications segment by acquiring wireless radio manufacturer Silvus Technologies for $4.4 billion. This acquisition includes $4.38 billion in cash, subject to customary adjustments, along with $20 million in restricted stock allocated to certain employee equity holders.

As part of the deal, Silvus could earn up to $600 million in additional payments, contingent on its business performance over consecutive 12-month periods ending in 2027 and 2028.

The acquisition is expected to finalize by the third or fourth quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.

Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Silvus specializes in software-defined, high-speed mobile ad-hoc network technology. Its innovative technology enables secure communication—data, video, and voice—without the need for fixed infrastructure. Serving a diverse range of clients including autonomous systems manufacturers, military organizations, law enforcement agencies, and global enterprises, Silvus provides cutting-edge solutions for challenging environments.

Silvus' devices are designed to operate seamlessly in the most demanding conditions. By forming large, scalable, and self-healing mesh networks, their technology adapts to continuous mobility. This network solution supports long-distance connectivity and is capable of handling bandwidth-intensive applications such as video streaming, sensor data, and drone operations.

Greg Brown, Chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions, emphasized the company’s commitment to using technology as the foundation for protecting communities, securing borders, and responding to evolving threats. “This acquisition expands our intelligent network capabilities, enabling next-generation security for those on the front lines—whether on land, in the air, or at sea,” he said.

Motorola and Silvus will integrate their engineering teams, combining their expertise to enhance their global reach and better serve customers worldwide. Silvus was previously owned by private equity firm TJC LP (formerly known as The Jordan Company).

Babak Daneshrad, CEO of Silvus Technologies, expressed his excitement about joining forces with Motorola. “We share a common belief that safety is the cornerstone for building better lives. This belief drives our R&D efforts, and we are eager to collaborate with Motorola to serve those who protect us all,” he stated.

TJC, with its offices in New York, Chicago, Miami, and Stamford, has been a key partner in guiding Silvus through its technological advancements. Erik Fagan, partner at TJC, highlighted the dedication of the Silvus team in revolutionizing communication technology. “It has been an honor to work alongside Silvus, and we are excited to see their continued success as part of the Motorola Solutions family,” he concluded.
