Silvus Technologies, a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, has unveiled the StreamCaster NEXUS—a cutting-edge, chest-mounted tactical networking system designed to provide critical real-time connectivity and data access in demanding military and law enforcement environments. The system is engineered to maximize mobility and operational flexibility by reducing the load operators carry while offering superior communication capabilities.

“We’ve redefined the tactical networking experience with direct feedback from the field,” said Neema Daneshvar, Vice President of Product at Silvus Technologies. “StreamCaster NEXUS isn’t just another piece of equipment—it’s a secure, mobile communications hub that enables military and law enforcement professionals to share voice, video, and data seamlessly, even when traditional infrastructure is down. It’s all about mission effectiveness.”

The heart of the StreamCaster NEXUS system is the advanced StreamCaster MINI 5200 (SM5200) mobile ad hoc network (MANET) radio, paired with Samsung’s rugged S23/S23TE (and newer) tactical mobile devices. These are mounted within a custom-designed Juggernaut.Case chest mount, designed to integrate seamlessly into an operator's tactical vest. The result? A streamlined setup that enhances mobility and prevents cables from getting snagged, ensuring a smooth operational flow during high-pressure missions.

Operators benefit from access to powerful tools such as the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) and other situational awareness software. These applications provide real-time geospatial intelligence, enabling operators to plan missions effectively and adapt rapidly to ever-changing circumstances. A variety of data interfaces—including Ethernet, USB, RS232, dual push-to-talk, radio over IP, and Nett Warrior unified power—allow for flexible system configurations that cater to different operational needs. The StreamScape network management plug-in also enables smooth radio and network configuration for maximum operational efficiency.

At the heart of the StreamCaster NEXUS’ powerful networking capabilities is the ultra-slim SM5200 radio. This state-of-the-art technology delivers up to 2W native output power, and with TX Eigen Beamforming, effective power can reach up to 4W. It offers data rates of up to 100 Mbps, making it ideal for voice, high-quality video, and IP data communications. Thanks to Silvus’ MN-MIMO waveform, StreamCaster NEXUS creates a self-forming, adaptive mesh network that links hundreds of nodes, offering unmatched range and throughput. This dynamic network is also highly resistant to electronic warfare (EW), making it a reliable choice for operations in contested environments.

The system’s versatility is further enhanced by its compatibility with the 4000-series StreamCaster MANET radios. Operators can detach the SM5200 quickly using the system’s snap-lock mechanism for standalone radio operations, ensuring continuous communication even during unpredictable missions.

For enhanced security, StreamCaster NEXUS is equipped with AES256 and FIPS 140-3 encryption. Additionally, operators can opt for Spectrum Dominance 2.0—a suite of advanced capabilities that includes Low Probability of Intercept/Low Probability of Detection (LPI/LPD), Anti-Jam (AJ) electronic warfare resilience, and Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). These features ensure that communications remain secure and resilient in congested, EW-heavy environments without compromising performance.

The StreamCaster NEXUS system is a prime example of the next-generation technology that drives success on the modern battlefield. This innovative solution will be on display at the AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington D.C., from October 13-15.
