Motorola Solutions has unveiled a cutting-edge range of AI-powered devices specifically designed for challenging environments such as oil and gas industries and port operations.

This new Pelco range, launched after Motorola Solutions acquired the Pelco brand, brings a variety of advanced security solutions to the market. The expanded portfolio includes fixed cameras, rugged long-range cameras, smart sensors, and AI-driven analytics, all of which seamlessly integrate with third-party video management systems (VMS).

The Pelco brand is set to redefine security operations by offering AI-based solutions that perform reliably across diverse environmental conditions. Hamish Dobson, Corporate Vice President of Pelco, explained, "Pelco provides security operators with resilient AI-powered solutions designed to thrive under harsh conditions. Our goal is to combine rugged hardware with advanced sensing and AI analytics, ensuring our devices work seamlessly with any VMS, raising the bar for critical infrastructure security."

Since Motorola Solutions took charge of Pelco's engineering and design, the transformation of its camera line has been remarkable, with the product range more than doubling. The brand has also adopted a refreshed, modernised look, incorporating security technologies from previous acquisitions like Videotec, IP Video, and Silent Sentinel.

This expanded portfolio opens up new opportunities for growth in sectors such as transportation, aviation, maritime, and utilities. These industries often face extreme weather, corrosive environments, and other harsh conditions that would typically compromise conventional security devices.

Among the new offerings, Pelco's specialised portfolio stands out with products like the Esprit Anti-Corrosion cameras, designed to withstand the punishing maritime environment. Another highlight is the ExSite Enhanced Thermal 2 fixed camera, which provides thermal imaging for hazardous locations, such as power plants, and is certified to meet explosion-proof standards worldwide.

The Halo Smart Sensor is another breakthrough device in the portfolio, offering non-video security while maintaining privacy. It can detect activities like vaping, gunshots, unusual sounds, motion, and even recognize distress signals such as the word "help." Additionally, the Aeron and Jaegar cameras provide exceptional long-distance detection capabilities, up to 20 miles, even under extreme conditions typically encountered in military, aviation, and critical infrastructure environments.

Pelco devices are supported by Elevate, a cloud-based platform that monitors camera health and extends the capabilities of AI through the cloud. This platform provides real-time diagnostics, ensuring continuous, optimal performance.

Furthermore, Pelco's devices comply with Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) standards, ensuring ease of installation and integration without the need for costly system modifications. Pelco IP cameras also adhere to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Section 889, ensuring that they meet strict security procurement standards.
