Silvus Technologies, a Motorola Solutions company, has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation designed to enhance the effectiveness of dismounted military operations. The StreamCaster NEXUS is a next-generation, chest-mounted tactical networking system that brings mission-critical connectivity and real-time data access to the frontlines. The system is designed to maximize mobility, security, and situational awareness, transforming the way operators stay connected during complex and dynamic missions.
Revolutionizing Tactical Networking: StreamCaster NEXUS
The heart of the StreamCaster NEXUS lies in its ability to deliver superior wireless performance while minimizing the weight burden on operators. By incorporating direct feedback from military personnel in the design process, the system optimizes size, weight, and power (SWaP), ensuring that operators can move swiftly and efficiently without being weighed down by bulky equipment.
“We’ve designed the StreamCaster NEXUS to redefine expectations for tactical networking systems,” said Neema Daneshvar, Vice President of Product at Silvus Technologies. “With this system, military and law enforcement professionals can stay connected and share real-time voice, video, and data – even in environments where traditional communication infrastructure is unavailable.”
StreamCaster NEXUS: The Technology Behind the Innovation
At its core, the StreamCaster NEXUS integrates the cutting-edge StreamCaster MINI 5200 (SM5200) mobile ad hoc network (MANET) radio with a Samsung tactical mobile device (models S23/S23TE and above), all housed within a low-profile, custom-designed Juggernaut.Case chest mount. This setup ensures operators maintain a streamlined and snag-free configuration, enhancing mobility during operations.
Operators benefit from real-time situational awareness through the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) and other applications, which provide vital geospatial intelligence, mission planning tools, and radio/network configuration capabilities via the StreamScape network management plugin. Whether using Ethernet, USB, or RS232 data connectivity, the system offers dual push-to-talk functionality and unifies power through the Nett Warrior system, ensuring seamless adaptability across various operational environments.
Advanced Networking Capabilities for a Complex Battlespace
The StreamCaster NEXUS leverages the ultra-slim SM5200 MANET radio, which boasts up to 2W native output power (4W effective power with TX Eigen Beamforming) and a maximum data rate of 100 Mbps. These capabilities are designed to optimize network performance for voice, high-fidelity video, and IP data communication, ensuring reliability even in the most demanding tactical situations.
Powered by Silvus’ proprietary MN-MIMO waveform, the StreamCaster NEXUS forms a self-organizing and adaptive mesh network that links hundreds of nodes over great distances, delivering unparalleled range, throughput, and resilience against electronic warfare (EW) threats. This powerful network adaptability enables operators to respond swiftly to changes in the battlefield, ensuring that their communication infrastructure stays robust and responsive.
In addition to advanced encryption protocols like AES256 and FIPS 140-3, the system offers optional access to Spectrum Dominance 2.0. This suite of capabilities provides Low Probability of Intercept/Low Probability of Detection (LPI/LPD), Anti-Jam (AJ) features, and Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), all designed to enhance communications security in congested and EW-contested environments. With Spectrum Dominance, operators are equipped to dominate the RF spectrum, gaining a strategic edge in any operational theater.
The Future of Tactical Communication
The StreamCaster NEXUS will be on display at the AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington D.C. from October 13-15, 2025. Attendees are invited to visit Silvus’ booth (#3645) and Motorola Solutions’ booth (#6721) to see the technology in action and learn more about its capabilities.
The launch of the StreamCaster NEXUS marks a significant advancement in military communication technology. By combining cutting-edge hardware with adaptable software, Silvus Technologies has created a robust, mission-ready system that maximizes the effectiveness of dismounted operators.
