Motorola Solutions recently unveiled significant upgrades to its Avigilon security suite, introducing the Alta SOS system, which promises to revolutionize the way businesses handle emergency situations.
The Alta SOS feature is a game-changer, allowing users to transmit crucial security information—such as emergency contacts, evacuation plans, utility details, and live camera feeds—directly to emergency services. This innovative addition is designed to streamline the process of sharing critical data with first responders, ultimately saving precious time during high-pressure moments.
Alex Kazerani, Senior Vice President for Cloud Video Security & Access Control at Motorola Solutions, emphasized the urgency of swift information sharing. "In emergency situations, every second is vital," Kazerani explained. "Avigilon Alta SOS empowers first responders by delivering crucial information quickly, enabling them to take immediate action. Businesses require security systems that can seamlessly adapt to fast-changing circumstances."
The enhanced Avigilon suite, now featuring Alta SOS, is part of Motorola's broader enterprise security offerings. The suite integrates an array of advanced technologies, including video surveillance, access control, intercom systems, and virtual monitoring, providing comprehensive protection for businesses of all sizes.
In addition to the Alta SOS system, Motorola also rolled out new features for Avigilon Unity, a platform tailored to large-scale operations such as hospitals and critical infrastructure. Avigilon Unity allows users to define and react to complex security events detected by video, offering more control and flexibility.
Hamish Dobson, Corporate Vice President of Avigilon Unity, highlighted the system's capacity to simplify complex security operations. "The security challenges faced by large enterprises can be intricate, but their security systems should remain simple," Dobson stated. "Avigilon Unity leverages large language models to convert raw security data into actionable alerts, all in the language people use every day."
The upgraded Avigilon Unity platform offers continuous scanning across the entire camera network, enhancing situational awareness and slashing response times. Operators can now set up real-time alerts with specific triggers like "alert me if you see smoke and people running," prompting immediate action based on live video analysis.
Motorola Solutions is committed to tackling the rising security challenges faced by businesses by enhancing its suite of physical security solutions. These improvements aim to provide better protection for employees, visitors, and assets.
As part of its growth strategy, Motorola Solutions is also acquiring InVisit, a cloud-based visitor management provider. This acquisition, expected to close in the second quarter of 2025, will further integrate security functions within the Avigilon enterprise ecosystem, bringing added efficiency and cohesion to its security offerings.
